$21 million for NSW grain lines NSW Transport Minister John Watkins has committed to spend $21 million to improve 716 kilometres of track in western NSW to ensure that they can carry up to 2 million tonnes of grain in the 2005-06 harvest. This is an increase of $13 million on the previous commitment. The funds will provide for 70,000 new sleepers, 250 kilometres of new ballast and upgrade 25 bridges, on 11 of the restricted lines.
