Intermodal – Train Crew Negotiation Update

Representatives from the RTBU and Pacific National met in Adelaide on Friday 25 August to commence negotiations for the Intermodal Train Crew Enterprise Agreement. The parties emphasised that they were committed to finalising the EA negotiation process. Likewise, the RTBU representatives stated that their aim was to conclude the negotiations by the end of September. Pacific National has again stated they want to improve relationships with employees. The RTBU remains optimistic that the relationship between it and the company will also improve.

This meeting was an opportunity for the parties to put their respective issues on the table to ensure they are addressed appropriately. Both parties spent some time outlining their respective views on a number of issues and, whilst no agreement was made in respect to any of the issues raised, the discussions were productive. PN has stated they will have a draft EA to the RTBU for review prior to meeting again on Friday 1 September. Further meetings are also organised for the following week.
