QR Enterprise Agreement 5 complete

Members wanted no trade offs in QR Enterprise Agreement 5, and that was achieved, along with a wage increase, job security provisions and tighter control over contract work. The new Agreement lasts for 33 months.

There will be three increases in pay rates, all within the first 24 months of the Agreement:

  • January 1, 2002 - 4 per cent
  • January 1, 2003 - 3.5 per cent
  • January 1, 2004 - 2.75 per cent
The term "if it is cost effective to do so" will be removed from the grounds for contracting out of work. QR now has to "clearly demonstrate that it is in the public interest to contract out".

For the first time, the existing policy of no forced redundancies or forced relocations will be part of the Enterprise Agreement.
