RTBU response to National Transport Commission rail safety paper

07 March 2005

On March 4, 2005, the RTBU presented its 39 page response to the National Transport Commission's December 2004 discussion paper: "Improving the Regulatory Framework for Rail Safety in Australia".

The RTBU criticised many aspects of the ideas put forward in the NTC paper, but in a constructive way. The RTBU believes that this process in the NTC can achieve significant improvements in rail safety, as long as governments are willing to also invest in better technology, in line with better safety systems and training.
