Candidate for National Vice-President

Peter Jenkins

I am seeking your support to be re-elected to the position of National Vice President in the upcoming RTBU Elections. I have held the position of National Vice President for the last two years, working alongside Roger Jowett & Bob Hayden. I currently hold the position of Divisional President Tram & Bus Division N.S.W.

I have held various union positions at Local, State and National levels since 1988 which has enabled me to gain extensive experience. During this time I have represented the membership at all levels on numerous issues with integrity and authenticity to achieve the best possible outcomes.

With the re-election of the Howard government and their promised changes to the Industrial Workplace Relations Legislation, our organization is in for some challenges. It is imperative all members are aware of the impact this would have on workers rights if this government achieves their goals.

We also have this Federal government doing its utmost to do away with collective bargaining in favor of Australian Workplace Agreements (AWA's). The deceitful and extreme measures this Government will take in a bid to eradicate union density, as another mechanism of achieving its agenda to erode workers wages, conditions and living standards.
With the challenges we face it is crucial the leadership is experienced and committed when confronted on these issues to lobby, organise and run campaigns to protect the rights of all RTBU members.

If re elected I offer experience, dedication and leadership skills to continue our fight to protect all members' conditions of employment, job security, and improve and expand public transport. I ask all members for their support.
