Reactivate OHS!By Shaun Phillis, Locomotive Driver, Port Augusta Over twenty unions and Labor Councils took part in the Australian Council of Trade Unions’ seminar on occupational health and safety, held in Sydney on May 13-14, 2003.
The seminar said it was important to increase the number of OH&S reps in workplaces and for the union movement to support them with networking, training, and surveys. There should be a pilot program and new laws to create regional or roving safety representatives. Delegates criticised the Cole Royal Commission into the Building Industry for:
